Archaeologist Shares Findings of Current Excavations

Archaeologist Criss Helmkamp will be at Indiana University Northwest on July 26 to speak about his findings of a current excavation at the West Bedford site in White County, Indiana. The site contains a component of a middle woodland village that existed around AD1 to AD 200, as well as a historical town that existed in the middle 1800s.

Dr. Helmkamp, who is an assistant professor at Purdue University Lafayette, will show slides and answer questions about the site. He will also discuss field school opportunities.

Sponsored by the IU Northwest Anthropology Club and SAFT, the presentation will be on campus in Raintree Hall at 4:30 p.m. and is open to the community.

For more information on the presentation or the IU Northwest department of anthropology telephone Dr. Bob Mucci at 219-980-6607.
