Karen Kugler of Chesterton recently received the Outstanding Organic Chemistry Award at Indiana University Northwest. The award is presented annually by the Polymer Division of the American Chemical Society, says chemistry professor Atilla Tuncay and distinguishes “the best student in Organic Chemistry I and II.”
A 1996 graduate of Chesterton High School; Kugler is a pre-med student majoring in chemistry. She has also been awarded an undergraduate research grant by the university to study the reactions of alkynyl iodonium salts using sonochemical methods.
