Outstanding Achievement In Minority Studies

Indiana University Northwest students were recently recognized for their achievements by the Department of Minority Studies. Honorees include: Minnie Porter and Marcus Williams of Gary and Brenda Scott-Redmond of East Chicago for the African-American Studies Merit Award; Kelechukwe Brnfre and Diane Robinson of Gary for the Outstanding Achievement in African-American Studies; Victoria Perez of Gary for the Latino Studies Merit Award;  and Christina Sanchez of Gary Outstanding Academic Achievement in Latino Studies.

Five students were also honored with newly established awards and include Umberto De Vany of Merrillville, Nancy Escobedo of East Chicago and June Long of Munster for the Community Service Merit Award;  and Jacquelyn Gholson and Grace Williams of Gary for the Certificate of Honor for Graduate Study in Africana Studies.
