A Trip Through Time: Formation of Northwest Indiana

Understanding the Northwest Indiana landscape by reconstructing the area’s ancient glaciers and shorelines is the subject of the Friday, March 5 presentation, A Trip Through Time, at Indiana University Northwest.

Holly Jones, a geologist with the Indiana Geological Survey and an IU Northwest department of geosciences graduate, will discuss the nature of the local landscape and how data from old water wells can be used to understand the surface and subsurface features formed by retreating glaciers. She will also share her experience in studying Alaskan glaciers last year.

Sponsored by the IU Northwest Anthropology Club, the event will be from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Library Conference Center, 134 W. 35th St. in Room 110. Refreshments will be served.

More information on the event or the IU Northwest anthropology department is with Dr. Bob Mucci at 219-980-6607.
