Representatives from Northern Indiana Public Service Company recently presented a check for $100,000 to Indiana University Northwest.
Presenting the gift to Chancellor Hilda Richards were NIPSCO representatives, Dave Ryan, Lake County public affairs manager and Alice Butler, Gary public affairs representative. Richards expressed her appreciation while adding that 60% of the donation will be used to support scholarships while 40% will go toward childcare at the university.
Also grateful for the contribution is IU Northwest vice chancellor of External Affairs, Beverly Pankey. “This contribution to IU Northwest addresses the needs of our future students seeking scholarship funds, as well as our adult students who have returned to school and have young children needing childcare,” says Pankey. “Our new child care center, soon scheduled for construction, will be large enough to adequately provide high quality care for our adult students’ young children while they are pursuing their degrees.”
