A 90-minute interactive videoconference on the safety of children who go online, will be open to the community on Nov. 9 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at Indiana University Northwest in the Library Conference Center.
Moderated by Professor Gary Martin of the School of Public and Environmental Affairs (SPEA), the conference is designed to raise awareness regarding the online dangers of the Internet, as well as information on safe online practices.
The site facilitator for the conference is SPEA, and is sponsored by the US Department of Justice (Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention), in cooperation with the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, and the National School Boards Association.
“IU Northwest SPEA is committed to providing students and the community with information concerning important issues in public safety,” says Joseph Pellicciotti, SPEA director. “By facilitating this program, we are helping to meet that goal.”
The conference is free, but space is limited and reservations are necessary. Contact the SPEA office at 219-980-6695 for more information or to make reservations before Nov. 5.
