| New Student
Orientation had three sessions this summer—June
26, August 3, and August 17. The large number of students
attending has been very encouraging. With all sessions
completed, over 500 freshman students and their parents
have learned about academic programs, support programs,
the UPS Earn and Learn program, student life activities
and student organizations. The response from campus
departments and organizations has been so great that
we moved the fair from the lobby of Savannah Center
to the gymnasium.
A highly rated session is The Ultimate Road Trip—Campus2Career.
This interactive presentation is sponsored by businesses
and military forces. New students are involved in the
presentation by completing a workbook that takes them
from the first day of classes to graduation. They are
offered great tips for academic success, encouraged
to get involved in extracurricular activities, and
persuaded to start developing their resume and working
toward a career from the very beginning of their college
experience.
Our thanks to the faculty, deans, administrators,
staff and students who are providing our new students
with a great welcome to IU Northwest!
