Welcome to the ESC Quarterly
Newsletter
By Joe Pellicciotti, Associate
Vice Chancellor- Enrollment Management
Goal of the Newsletter
Those
of us in Enrollment Services hope that you will find the newsletter
useful. Our goal is to produce a newsletter that provides
you with information that you will find useful to the success
of IU Northwest students.
Purpose and Organization of Enrollment Services
The Enrollment Services area supports our academic
units by assisting prospective students to become a part of
the IU Northwest community and assisting current students
to remain a part of the community, to progress, and to successfully
complete their programs of study.
More specifically, Enrollment Services provides service to
the faculty, students, staff, alumni, and, at times, the general
community, by assisting with and focusing upon the areas of
student recruitment and admission, assessment and evaluation,
financial aid and scholarships, registration and student records,
orientation, special retention programs (including the Critical
Literacy Program, the "REACH" partnership with Ivy
Tech State College, supplemental instruction, mentoring and
tutoring initiatives), and career services (including career
counseling, internships, and placement assistance).
A dedicated professional staff located in the following seven
IU Northwest units does the work of Enrollment Services:
Admissions
Career Services
Critical Literacy Program
Financial Aid and Scholarships
Registrar
Special Retention Programs
Student Testing and Assessment
Enrollment Services also works closely with the Bursar, who
advises and cooperates with Enrollment Services on a wide
range of matters and actively participates on the Enrollment
Services Council.
The Enrollment Services Council (ESC) includes the Associate
Vice Chancellor for Enrollment Management and the heads of
the Enrollment Services' offices/programs, plus the Bursar.
The council enhances the opportunity for ESC members to share
ideas, best practices, and experiences; supports and facilitates
individual unit activities; and plans, develops, and institutes
cooperative activities to enhance enrollment management on
campus.
Newsletter Production Plan
The newsletter will be produced quarterly and published online
at the Enrollment Services' Web page (http://www.iun.edu/~enrollnw/).
The newsletters will be archived at the same site for future
reference.
Each issue of the Enrollment Services Newsletter
will focus on the work of one Enrollment Services' unit.
The Fall 2005 issue highlights the Office of Admissions.
Throughout the remainder of the academic year, the newsletter
expects to focus on:
Winter 2005: Financial Aid and Scholarships
Spring 2005: Critical Literacy Program
Summer 2005: Career Services
In addition, all issues of the newsletter will provide news
briefs and announcements from other ESC offices, as well.
Readers will find everything from the announcement of events
and information on registration to short explanations of new
programs or special initiatives.
We hope you find these newsletters to be helpful in learning
more about Enrollment Services and receiving important information
about news and acrivities that affect the IU Northwest community. |
