Attendance Policy
Attendance
-
Attendance is required unless the student can consistently demonstrate the ability
to accomplish the objectives of the course. This is shown by working a minimum of
5 hours per week, completing all the topics in each objective, and achieving a passing
grade on each homework assignment.
-
Each student is required to be in class for the first two weeks. At the end of that
time, if the student has completed the objective 1 homework with a passing grade, completed
all the learning topics in objective 1, and worked at least 10 hours in ALEKS, beginning with
the third week the student may optionally attend class.
-
Thereafter, a student will be required to attend class the week following one of the requirements
is not met. That is, if you do not work 5 hours in a week, you do not pass a homework assignment
that is due, or finish all the topics in an objective that is due, you are expected to come to class
the following Monday. Do not wait to be told by the instructor. You are responsible for
keeping appraised of your own status.
-
Those students who are required to attend class may begin working from home following the first
chapter when all the requirements have been met consistently throughout.
Chapter Completion
Objective Completion
-
Each student should complete all the topics for each objective. You will be given a notice from
ALEKS when you have completed them all.
-
Each student will be graded on the percentage of topics that were completed for each objective.
This grade is found in ALEKS and will be transferred to OnCourse.
Homework Policy
Homework
-
Homework assignments are shown in the course calendar. There is a homework assignment due at
the completion of each objective. If you are working at midnight of the due date, the session is
terminated and automatically submitted.
-
Each homework assingment works as a quiz would. When you are done, the assignment
is graded. You can review your mistakes. If you are not satisfied with your grade.
you can repeat the assignment until you are up until the due date. Your best grade is recorded.
-
Do not ask for an extension of time unless you can show that you have been prevented
from working on the assignment throughout the week.
Exam Policy
Exams
- The exam must be taken at school
proctored by the instructor
- For each exam, the you may use the equivalent of a 3x5 index card of notes, both sides.
- All students are required to be present for each exam
Alternate Grading Policy
Alternate Grading Policy
If the student completes the material prior to the date of the final exam, the student may
take a cumulative assessment to test out of the course. The assessment will cover all the
topics in the course. If you do not like your grade, you may try again after completing those
topics you missed on the exam. The best grade will be recorded.
