Math Refresher Course for Summer 2008

 

Dear Student:

 

You are signing up for the ALEKS Math Refresher course based on your math placement/assessment score.  The refresher course has been designed and coordinated by the math department and covers material from the former M 006 course and Math 044 (see your advisor for more information).  Upon completion, you will be prepared to take M 007. 

 

Most of the majors/degree programs require specific math course(s)/skills in order to succeed in that major.  Some examples:

  • a psychology major will eventually be advised to complete either Basic Mathematics or Finite Mathematics before registering for Statistics;
  • in order to take the A106 Introduction to Computing course, students need to have successfully passed the Elementary Algebra course (M007);
  • a grade of “C” or higher in Basic Algebra (M014) or a higher level math course is required for the Respiratory Therapy program.

 

The Math Refresher course at IU Northwest:  The Summer ‘08 course will run Monday, June 30th to Friday, August 15th. This course is a computer course using a software program designed to build math confidence and skills.  Students work at their own pace with the help of a math instructor.

 

Please register with the Special Retentions Office (HH 425), the Math department OR Continuing Studies as soon as possible.  If you have not already done so, be sure to create your IUN Technology Account before the first day of class.   For more information, call 219-981-4296
