Trustee Teaching Award: Bogdan Vajiac

Founder's Day Teaching Award for Part-time Teacher: Cynthia Miller

Dr. Peter Caithamer will be a keynote speaker addressing a special type of stochastic equations at the 33rd International Conference on Applied Mathematics in Engineering and Economics in Bulgaria.

Stela Pudar-Hozo became the fourth member of the department induced to FACET, community of IU faculty, dedicated to and recognized for excellence in college teaching and learning. Members are advocates for educational excellence in the classroom, on campus, and across the University. Read the introduction note presented by Dr. Tanice Foltz  in Indianapolis on May 18th 2007.

Professor Iztok Hozo recently published the article "When Should Potentially False Research Findings Be Considered Acceptable?" in the scientific journal Public Library of Science Medicine. The editors of the journal considered the article of sufficient importance to release a press release about its results. The press release was published by the magazine Science.

Along with associate professors Lary Schiefelbusch and Vesna Kilibarda presenting at the Indiana Mathematical Association of America Spring 2007 Meeting at the University of Indianapolis, two IU Northwest students Kristine Feitshans and Cindy Faryniak presented their paper “Murder at the Mayfair.”

Kris Ted Denise MAA07 Abstract: Using differential equations we will help Detective Diff E. Quasion find the appropriate murder suspect. We utilize Netwon’s Law of Cooling, LaPlace transformations, and Unit Step Functions, to investigate the time of death of the unfortunate Joe D. Wood. We were able to determine that the main suspect is an unscrupulous cook named Shorty.
