The Office of Marketing and Communications (OMC) oversees the publication of printed materials to external and internal audiences for marketing, promotional, informational and fundraising purposes.

The OMC also publishes the Northwest News, a bi-monthly newsletter for faculty, staff and friends of IU Northwest. In January 2003, we unveiled the new Northwest Magazine, a publication for the northwest Indiana community and alumni which is published bi-annually in April and October.

Editorial Guidelines

Consistent editorial standards give printed material a consistent look and project an image of cohesiveness both on and off campus. The Office of Marketing and Communications uses the Indiana University Style Guide and the Associated Press (AP) Stylebook as its chief reference on questions of editorial style. The AP Stylebook is available in the campus bookstore.

We also have developed editorial guidelines for university-related use, available in Microsoft Word format through the link below. We have tried to make these guidelines current and hope they will be helpful. We will review entries annually and make necessary changes.

Indiana University Editorial Style Guidelines
