To promote life-long learning skills and continuous educational
achievement, the Indiana University Northwest Library is dedicated
to meeting the diverse education and research needs of students,
faculty, staff and other customers in an environment of free and
open inquiry and with a commitment to excellence.
Housing nearly a half a million books and other publications,
the library features plenty of work areas and all the modern technology
necessary for productive study and research. The building is also
home to the Lake County Central Law library, the university’s
conference center, the chancellor’s office and a small café.
Calumet Regional Archives—collects, preserves, and makes available historical records documenting the history of Northwest Indiana's Calumet Region.
Circulation—checks-out library materials and issues library cards .
Community Grants Information—furnishes a specialized collection of directories, handbooks, annual reports, magazines, and other materials pertaining to philanthropy, grantsmanship, and nonprofit organizations.
Data Center—provides regional and sub-regional economic, demographic, health, environmental, and other data to businesses, non-profits, and community organizations.
Diversity Library—provides information resources about multi-cultural diversity.
Electronic Information—provides access to IUCAT and all library-based databases.
ERIS-Electronic Reserve—allows students to read, download, and print the reserve material for classes without making a special trip to the library.
Government Publications—consists of a variety of materials including government publications in print and on microfiche, and in electronic format (CD-ROM, disk, Internet).
Interlibrary Loan—obtains books and periodical articles not owned by the IU Northwest Library.
Reading - One Book, One Campus — IU Northwest’s’ Reading in the Region is an initiative that will select a different text each semester and will then hold a series of discussions pertaining to topics from the text.
Reference—provides assistance in answering reference questions including how to use the library.
Reserves—maintains a collection of course materials that your instructors have requested be placed on Reserve. Material placed on Reserve is kept in the Reserve Area which is located at the Circulation Department.
Technical Services—provides access to the University's scholarly information resources by obtaining materials, organizing them, and maintaining the online catalog.
