Lake County Government Finance Study

The Lake County Government Finance Study, was conducted by  the Indiana Business Research Center (IBRC), the Northwest Indiana Local Government Academy, Center for Sustainable Regional Vitality, and Partners for Good. It was financed by a consortium of private and public entities.

The study was prompted by calls for increased efficiency in all levels of local government, including cities and towns, the county, townships, school systems, libraries and a variety of other special taxing units in Lake County.

This study addresses two key issues

  • Impacts following the 2003 property reassessment
  • Government efficiency
