Participation Agreement

The Institute's Leadership Development Program is a personal development program designed to enhance your career objectives. Our time together is limited and focused on specific experiences that will be helpful to you in the achievement of your goals.

If accepted into the Institute for Innovative Leadership, you will be expected to observe these policies. If you find that the program is not fulfilling your expectations or that you cannot observe the Institute's policies, you may withdraw from the Institute by notifying the Executive Director of your intention to do so.

Attendance at all scheduled sessions and program activities is mandatory unless excused by the Institute's management. The Institute's staff must be informed in advance of a planned absence or notified immediately after an unexpected absence. Punctuality is a must. Arrive early for all scheduled meetings.

Professionalism is a major key to success. As an Institute student, you are an emerging leader. Professional conduct, attire, respect of others, and an open-minded, positive attitude at the Leadership Institute's events will help you to develop the skills necessary to succeed. Integrate this concept into everything you do.

Commitment to the program itself, to your fellow students, and to the Institute's Board of Directors is essential. By accepting enrollment into the Institute, you are making an important commitment in terms of your free time and for access to the very valuable personal and professional time of our leaders, speakers, mentors, and resources. All of our community leaders are serving voluntarily to enhance your career direction and your future.

Graduation Requirements will be outlined in a separate agreement. Should you violate the agreement or be unable to fulfill the requirements of the agreement, you may be asked to withdraw from the program.

Service is an essential concept inherent to leadership responsibilities. As a participant in the Institute for Innovative Leadership, you will be asked to serve others from time to time. You should understand that this kind of service is your opportunity to give back to others as others have given to you.

Fundraising is an important role in leadership. You will have the opportunity to participate in two Institute fundraisers (one in the fall and one in the spring) for the purpose of learning the logistics of fundraising, practicing communication, networking and teamwork skills. Your participation in raising funds will support your involvement in the program.

Research is an essential part of any institution of higher education. You may be asked to participate in activities that evaluate your opinions, skills, perceptions, and knowledge. These research projects enable the Institute to access funding and provide needed information to the field of leadership.

Equal Opportunity - The Institute for Innovative Leadership, an equal opportunity organization, is open to all students at Indiana University Northwest. The Leadership Institute does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, age, national origin, handicap or veteran status.
