Arletta Underwood - Gary received three undergraduate
degrees from IU Northwest. She is the President of American College of
Healthcare Executives student chapter and also a member of Alpha Kappa
Alpha Sorority, Inc. After being diagnosed with fibromyalgia, Arletta became
an active spokesperson for the illness. She is currently working
as a substitute teacher with the Gary School System while pursuing a Master's
in Health Administration. |

Carol Underwood – Gary is a Special Education, LD / MIMH teacher in Gary. She received a Master's Degree in Special Education from IUSB in 2001 and her second Master's Degree in Secondary Social Studies in May 2002. Carol is a member of True Worship Missionary Church and coordinator of UTEP's annual parent workshop for special needs children. She also organized a toy and clothes drive for battered women and children. Her career objectives include receiving a doctorate in education, starting a halfway house for troubled pregnant teens, and starting a support group for teens with Crohns and Colitis. Michael
Unhoch - Crown
Point works as a Customer Service Representative for Centier Bank and plans
to intern out of the Lending and Investment departments soon. Mike
takes full advantage of his driver by throwing himself on the golf
course whenever the weather and his schedule allow. As soon as he
grabs hold of his BS, Mike will be ready for a great job at a

Theresa Valade - Chesterton is the Director of the Duneland Health and Wellness
Institute affiliated with St. Anthony Memorial Health Centers in
Michigan City and St. Margaret Mercy Health Centers in Hammond and
Dyer. She is a graduate of Purdue University, West Lafayette
with a BS in Restaurant, Hotel, Tourism Management. Theresa has
been working in the management field for the last ten years in various
capacities such as District Manager for Kendall-Jackson Wine Estates
as well as Store Manager at Starbucks Coffee, Inc. in Chicago. Theresa is currently seeking her MBA. In her spare time, she
enjoys bicycling, camping, outdoor activities and food and wine

Chris Vallangeon – Hobart serves as the Chemist and Quality Assurance Supervisor at
Staveley Services Material Testing, in Gary. Chris received his
BS in Biochemistry from Purdue University in
1995, and his MBA for IU Northwest in 2003. He is also captain of his bowling team, attends mass, and

Diane Vanderwerf Vinson - Gary graduated in May 2000 with a BS in Chemistry with a minor in
mathematics. She was a member of the Multi-Cultural Affairs Club where she was also a peer mentor. She was a member and mentor for the Career Beginnings
Program as well. Diane and her husband are currently living in Germany. When not working or volunteering, Diane is busy raising a daughter,
son, two sisters and a niece. She intends on pursuing a career as a corporate attorney working for a major chemical company. (Spring / Fall 99) |

Sandra M. Van Prooyen – Munster is the Quality Support Coordinator at Community Hospital in Munster. She received her BS in Health Information Administration at Loma Linda University, California and her credentials as a Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality in 1998. Sandra just completed her MPA with a Health Administration concentration. She is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE), American Health Information Management Association, and the National Association for Healthcare Quality. (Spring / Fall 02) |

Bill Vargo – Highland holds a MPA. He is currently employed at Northwestern Memorial Hospital as a Managed Care Resource Coordinator. Bill has coached Special Olympics, has written articles for the Purdue University Calumet student newspaper and was a participant in Walk America. Bill is a member of Phi Alpha Theta Historical Honor Society, Phi Alpha Alpha Public Administration Honor Society and has received several Distinguished Student Awards.
Presently, he is serving as the President of the Highland Democratic

Audra Vaz – Coral Springs, FL received a BS in Public Relations from Grand Valley State University in 1992 and a Graduate Certificate in Nonprofit Management from IU Northwest in 2003. She recently relocated to South Florida with her husband Johann and two children and is currently working for
SOS Children's Villages - Florida, overseeing the writing and
administration of grants. Audra is pursuing a master's degree in
Nonprofit Management at Florida Atlantic University. In her spare time, Audra volunteers with the South Florida chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. (Spring / Fall 02, r08 / 05) |

Anna Villanueva - Portage graduated from IU Northwest with a BS in Business Administration and
is currently pursing an Associate's in Spanish. She works as a
secretary in the Office of Student Life and Athletics at IU Northwest. Anna is an Assistant Coach for IU Northwest's Co-Ed Softball team and
also helps run the Basketball Intramurals in the springtime. Anna played volleyball for four years and basketball for three and a
half years at IU Northwest. She is a member of the IU Northwest
Wellness Team and in her spare time loves to read, write poetry and blogs. |

Anda Vranjes – Arizona was formerly a financial advisor with American Express Financial Advisors in Mesa, Arizona. Her undergraduate degree is in Finance and Marketing from IUB. Anda is seeking her Certified Financial Planner designation and

Jilian
Vukas – Dyer is an Administrative Assistant with Superior Design-Build
currently working on her BA in criminal justice. She expects to
graduate in May of 2009. In addition to Jil’s daily work, she is a
part of the Purdue University Calumet Honors Program and volunteers
with the College Mentor’s For Kids Program as their activities
director at Purdue University Calumet. There she has received the
University’s Outstanding Achievement Award for 2005-2006 and The
National Dean’s List Award for 2005-2006 school year. Jil is also a
dedicated volunteer with Junior Achievement of Northwest Indiana and
actively participates with the Chicago Cares Organization. Jil’s
career objectives include attending graduate school for her Master’s
in Social Work and hopes to become a casework counselor. |

Rhonda West Norman – Chicago is the Finance Manager of Reimbursement, Pricing, Home Health, and Charity Operations for The Methodist Hospitals, Inc., Gary and Merrillville. She is passionate about her career and takes pride in her mentoring success stories with staff she has trained. She has a MPA in Health Services, BSBA in Accounting, and a Post Graduate Certificate in Public Administration. Rhonda recently won a significant 1990 Medicaid appeal for Methodist with aggregate expected proceeds of $6 million. She is presently working on projects to expand her department including federal healthcare demonstration projects, establishing a charitable foundation, and securing community health related grants. She is a life-long volunteer in various community services, particularly for her Local School Council. Her latest community endeavor is to engage in a faith based community health initiative challenge offered by Diversity Healthcare Inc. (Fall 01 / Spring 02, r08 / 03) |

LeVon Whittaker – Gary is an Associate Minister / Sunday School Teacher at Progressive MB Church. LeVon is part owner of Midtown Metals, a family owned business, President of the Gary Community Improvement Association, Director of the Parent Leadership Council, coach at Midtown Little League and husband and father of three sons. LeVon holds an engineering degree from Purdue and is enrolled in the Nonprofit Management Certificate Program at IU Northwest.

Marcus Williams - Gary graduated
with a double major in Communications and African American Studies. While attending school, Marcus was President of the Black Student Union, President of the Communication Association, Senator for the Student Government Association, on the Black History Month Committee and an IU Northwest Student Spokes Person. Marcus owns and operates a convenience store in Hammond. He is presently a board member of the Indiana Harbor Little League. Marcus is also involved with real estate. He is a Marine Corps veteran and is busy raising a son. (Spring / Fall 99) |

Reginald Williams – Merrillville is a correctional officer
at Westville in Clinical Services, which treats offenders with
substance abuse, mental health and sex offenses. He also works with
the Criminal Probation Division at Lake County Superior Court. In
addition, Reggie works for the Lake County Election Commission, is a
member of the Indiana Gang Task Force and has attended seminars at the
Stratton Law Enforcement Academy at Eastern Kentucky University.
Reggie is pursuing a MPA at IU Northwest. He
holds a BS in Labor Studies with a minor in Criminal Justice. In his
spare time, he likes to sample cuisine of the local restaurants with
his close friend and faithfully participates in his church.

Tobey Wilson - Chicago, IL graduated with a BS in Accounting and Finance with a MIS minor in August 2001. He is currently employed at Edwin C. Sigel Ltd. In Northbrook, IL as a staff accountant. Tobey is very active in his church in Portage, IN, where he served as Trustee Chairman for two years and is currently serving as Financial Secretary. Yates – Merrillville graduated in
May 2002 with a MPA. He is an Inspector at Ford
Chicago Heights Stamping Plant. In the past he has been a substitute
teacher in the Gary Public School System. His career objectives

Phyllis Zarazee - Michigan City has enjoyed a successful career in restaurant management. Phyllis is a member of the National Honor Society. She received her MBA in the fall of 2000. Currently, Phyllis is taking a brief hiatus and is concentrating on raising and breeding her three Chow Chow dogs, which is one of the loves of her life. (Spring / Fall 99) |

Judy Zeilenga – Highland is Manager of Educational Services for WYIN Channel 56 in
Merrillville. After her December 1998 graduation, Judy took a
position at IU Northwest as Coordinator of Special Retention Programs,
where she remained for three years, helping students make a smooth
transition into college life. Judy then served as Consultant to
Lake County Public Schools, in the use of various media to enhance
teaching and learning. She then taught Foreign Language at
Gary's Wirt High School, while also working part-time at WYIN 56 as
Coordinator of Educational Services. Judy now serves as manager
of Educational Services. Her duties include
conducting trainings for teachers, early childhood providers, and
parents to promote life long learning from birth through adulthood. (Spring / Fall 99, r08 / 05) |

Leticia Zepeda – Chesterton is an Environmental Scientist for the Indiana
Department of Environmental Management. She is a graduate of
Calumet College of St. Joseph with a BS in Biology. Letty
received her MPA with a concentration in Management in May 2005. She
intends to continue working in the environmental field but plans to
expand by concentrating on environmental crimes. Letty hopes to
continue her education after receiving her Masters and plans to
pursue an AA in Culinary Arts. She also will be enrolling in the
Master Gardeners course at Purdue Calumet for Fall 2005. Letty
hopes to give back to the community by someday teaching at IU Northwest in the near future. Her goals are to learn horseback

Bernadette Ziol - DeMotte received her ASGS from IU. She is Vice President / Loan Administration Manager for Bank Calumet in Hammond where she has been employed for over 14 years. Bernadette is currently serving as President of the Board for Mental Health Association in Lake County, Treasurer of IU Northwest Alumni Association, IU Northwest representative on Executive Council of the IU
Alumni Association and has served as a Volunteer Member of Lake Area United Way Allocations Committee. (Fall 99 / Spring 00) |
