Nathan Remaly – Crown Point is an Account Manager with Schneider National Inc. in Manteno, Illinois. He has served as a Cavalry Officer in the United States Army where he achieved the rank of Captain. Nate is pursuing his CPA and a MBA with dual minors in Finance and Management Information Systems.

Cora Robinson – Gary graduated in May 2004 with a BS in Public Administration from IU Northwest. She is the Vice President for the National Federation for
the Blind. Cora is the mother of seven and she is very active at
Riley, Beveridge and Tolleston schools. In the past, she worked as a
Certified Nursing Assistant. Cora enjoys helping others and her

Eric Robinson – Merrillville graduated in May 2002 with a
MSW and a Graduate Certificate in Non-profit Management. He has an
MA in Human Relations and a BA in Communications and Sociology from the University of Oklahoma. Eric served as a Board member of the Metropolitan Baptist Church and Executive Director of the Metropolitan Oasis Community Development Corporation. He is founder and Chief Executive Officer of The Gateway to Success Community Development Corporation in St. Louis, Missouri. Joy Robinson – Hobart is working to receive her MBA. While completing her
graduate degree, she is employed as a pharmacy technician with Porter Memorial Health System in Valparaiso and
is exploring future opportunities. Her past experience with Venture Stores included positions as a senior merchandising associate and project team leader. During her undergraduate years in Bloomington, Joy did volunteer work on campus and in the community. Currently, she is active in her church and participates in alumni activities. Brenda Rocha - Portage is
a PhD candidate as an online student with Walden University. She
Teaches clinicals for IU Northwest nursing students at Northlake
Hospital. Brenda is also a Family Nurse Practitioner and
volunteers when needed at a free clinic. Her full time place of
employment is Roseland Community Hospital where she is working as
Director of Emergency Services. Brenda has served as vice
President of the Indiana Association of Student Nursing, President of
the Student Nurses Association, and has haired many committees in the
nursing division. She has a BS in Nursing from IU Northwest and
received her MSN for Acute Care Nurse Practitioner in

Darcie Rogala – Portage graduated in May 2000 with a degree in Sociology. She serves as Program Director for the Boys and Girls Club of Lake Station. In high school, she was very active with the student council and peer programs. Darcie was a participant in an internship program with the St. Jude House. Tyrone
Rogers – Gary is a retired supervisor for U.S. Steel Corporation in
Gary, Indiana. He is currently working as the Project Manager for
the Environmental Affairs Department for the City of Gary. Tyrone
earned a B.S. degree in Organizational Management from Calumet
College of St. Joseph in 2000. Since then, he has received a
Post-Baccalaureate Certificate in Computer Information Systems and a
Graduate Certificate in Environmental Affairs from Indiana
University Northwest. Tyrone plans to earn his M.B.A. from IU Northwest. He
enjoys playing golf and is a proud member of the Glen Park Weed &
Seed representing the City of Gary. |

David
Root – Crown Point is a senior
majoring in Sociology with minors in Political Science, Pre-Law, and
Psychology at IU Northwest. David is active in the International
Affairs Club, Omicron Sigma Delta (an honorary academic organization),
and Psi Chi (an honorary psychology organization). He has held a
number of jobs in the retail industry. After graduating from IU Northwest, David plans to attend graduate school. He enjoys a variety

Tina Rongers – Valparaiso is a community resource, assisting on various
projects throughout the region. She works full-time for Lake
County's Workforce Investment Board, the LCISDB, while attending
graduate school at the University of Illinois Chicago, Urban Policy
and Planning master's program. Tina serves on the Board of
Directors for both the Alliance for the Great Lakes and the Shirley
Heinze Land Trust. She is also a member of the Northwest Indiana

Esther Rothstein – Munster graduated in May 2001 with a
BSG with minors in Anthropology and Sociology. She is currently working on her
MSW. Esther is a 72 year old cancer survivor with strong judgment and wisdom. She is active in her Medical Support Group offering encouragement to cancer patients. She is on call as a substitute teacher in two school systems in Lake County. Esther is a lifetime member of Indiana University Alumni Association and Haddash. She is a School of Continuing Studies representative for IU Northwest Alumni Association, serves on the Chancellor's Shared Vision Committee, the Task Force for Community Health and Wellness, and in May 2001, received the Indiana University Alumni Association President's Award. Ben Rouse – Highland received his
BA in Political Science / Criminology from Valparaiso University and his
MPA from IU Northwest. He has served as a police officer for the Munster Police Department. Ben is active in the Munster Fraternal Order of Police and has been a coach, tutor and community volunteer. Ben has also served as a therapist / case manager at Porter Starke Services. His future plans include attending law school. (Fall 99 / Spring 00) |

Sharon Row - Crown Point is the 5th grade music teacher at Merrillville Intermediate School. She also writes, organizes and coordinates the Christmas Madrigal
Program. Sharon recently moved back to Northwest Indiana after
spending 19 years in corporate management. She received her BS
in Music Education from Indiana State in Terre Haute and is completing
her MBA at IU Northwest. Besides music, Sharon's interests
include sewing, crewel embroidery, cooking, Stephen King novels and
her pets. She has two daughters who are the source of her
inspiration and encouragement. Sharon's philosophy in education is to "teach each and every child in your classroom as if they were
your only student." The source of contentment in her life is
from greeting each day as a gift from God and taking faith in that He

Nicole Ruiz - Highland is the founder of RECONDISHUN'd,
a youth-driven fundraiser spared by vintage t-shirts. Nicole,
along with her younger sisters, has helped raise money for a Jamaica
Mission trip, youth camps, local bands and concerts since its start in
2003. Just a month after graduating with her Bachelor's in
Business Administration and Communications, she gained employment
working as a finance Manager. Now a Loan Officer for Ace
Mortgage and Funding in Crown Point, Nicole continues to pursue her
passion to give to others by lending money for new homes, refinancing,
and debt consolidation. Currently, she is pursuing her
MBA at IU Northwest, with plans for business ownership and eventually small business
consulting. |

Amy Paterson Sandie – West Linn, OR graduated with a degree in Sociology with a minor in Psychology and Women's Studies in 2000. Amy received her Masters degree at the University of Michigan in 2002. She has served as Director of the Women's Studies Resource Center, President of the Women's Student Association, President of the Sociology Club, Supplemental Instruction Leader, President of the School of Social Work Student Union, and was Peer Mentor for Freshman Seminar. She is a member of Alpha Kappa Delta and Psi
Chi, and the Oregon Professional Evaluators Network. She now
works as a research associate at the Human Services Research Institute

Jennifer Schulte – Merrillville is a Relationship Banker for Bank One in Merrillville. Jennifer assists clients in achieving their financial goals and objectives using various investment and lending tools. She is a registered representative with the National Association of Securities Dealers and the State of Indiana. As she needs to continuously meet new challenges, Jennifer has set high goals for herself and is looking forward to advancing her career and earning an MBA. A national Dean's List honorary award recipient, she received her BA in Psychology in December 2002. Gabriela Serrano – Gary a native of Mexico but now an American citizen, is a junior studying
Spanish and French. She is a Spanish tutor at IU Northwest and also
the president of the Modern Language Club. In high school, Gabriela
was a member of the National Honor Society. Gabriela dedicates her
time helping her sisters and parents. Her future goal is to attend

Mary Ann Shacklett - Munster is a CPA and has been employed by the Community Hospital in Munster for the past 14 years as the Controller. She completed her
MBA at IU Northwest in 2000. She was on the Board of Directors and President of the Calumet Chapter of the Indiana CPA Society, member of the Healthcare Financial Management, and is involved in the Parent Teacher Organization at the Frank Hammond School in Munster. (Spring / Fall 99, r01 / 03) |

Dave Shafer – Munster now serving as the elected Clerk-Treasurer for the Town of Munster, he previously served two terms as a Munster Town Councilman after a successful management career in the steel industry. Dave is an appointed member of NIRPC and serves on its executive board and other committees. His community activities include the Munster Chamber of Commerce, Humane Society Calumet Area, Munster Lions Club, Munster Historical Society, and Rotary Club of Munster. (Spring / Fall 99) |

Daniel Shih – Schererville received his AS in Respiratory Therapy with a
minor in Human Biology and BS in Business Administration with a minor in Marketing from IU Northwest. Now he is pursuing a Master's in International Commerce and Policy
from Valparaiso University. Currently he works as a Respiratory
Therapist at the following hospitals: Community Hospital in
Munster, Select Specialty at St. Margaret Mercy in Hammond, and
Illiana Surgery and Medical Center. On the side, Dan is also a
Licensed Indiana Real Estate Sales Agent, and will be taking his
Broker's examination in September. He hopes to join his parent's
company See's Realty soon after specializing in Commercial Leasing and
Real Estate Investment Portfolios. Dan Completed an overseas
study program with IU Bloomington at City University of Hong Kong in
the spring semester of 2001. Extracurricular activities include
trying to find a new Tae Kwon Do instructor to finish his black belt. For the last seven summers, Dan has volunteered for American Lung
Association Summer Asthma Camp Programs for the Northern Chapter. Former board member / guest columnist for the Northwest Indiana World
Trade Council, and has been serving the last three years on the IU Northwest Alumni Association representing the Allied Health Division. Dan has been influential in getting the rater Northwest Indiana
Association of Realtors and the local Northwest Indiana Habitat for
Humanity to work along side of each other for fundraising events to
raise money. His future plans are to become a successful International
Businessman working specifically in Asia, but for the time being he is

Isabella “Maxine” Simpson – Gary is a graduate of IU Northwest. She holds a BA in Business
Administration with a minor in Marketing. Isabella, better known as
Maxine, owns Simpson’s Dairy Queen and IMS Rental Service. She is
Director of New Hope Missionary Baptist Church, president of the
Hilltop Neighborhood Committee and coordinator for children activities
for the Dairy Queen. Isabella is also a studio technician for Channel
16 in East Chicago and a member of Delta Sigma Pi Fraternity. In her

Jim Smith – Gary is Director of Marketing
and Communications for the Majestic Star Casino. Jim started his career at the end of his junior year at
IU Northwest serving as a Marketing Specialist for the City of Gary's Dept. of Economic
Development. He graduated with a BA in Business Administration with minors in Philosophy and Economics in May of 2001. He is a member of several committees and organizations, such as Gary 2000, Museum Without Walls, and the Customer Service Initiative. Marcus Smith – Valparaiso received his BA in 1993 from IU in Bloomington. He is currently pursuing his MBA at IU Northwest. Marc is the Service Supervisor for Heat Wagon and Portable Heater Parts
(PHP) in Valparaiso. Marc's wife is a domestic engineer who stays at home to take care of their three children. He is a current member of the Valparaiso Jaycees where he enjoys serving the community. By being in the Leadership Institute, Marc hopes to expand his role in his current, and future, positions with Heat Wagon and

Deanna Soper – Valparaiso is in her
7th year of teaching biology at Crown Point High School. She remains
active by volunteering for a therapeutic riding program, taking horse
back riding lessons and doing aerobics. Deanna is also
interested in the aquatic world which is shown through her hobbies of
SCUBA diving, kayaking, and keeping salt and freshwater aquariums. She obtained her BS in Biology and Science Education for Tri-State
University and an MBA from IU Northwest. In the future, Deanna
hopes to be able to obtain her PhD in biology, research fish behavior,
and teach at the college level.

James Soper – Valparaiso is currently a Trooper with the Indiana State Police working out of the Lowell post and is a member of the elite Under Water Search and Recovery Team. While at Vincennes University, James served as Vice President of the Law Enforcement Association and after obtaining a degree in Law Enforcement, attended IU Bloomington, graduating with a BA in Criminal Justice. In the future, James hopes to work for a federal law enforcement agency as an investigator.

Betty Sparks-Bullard – Gary is an elementary vice-principal with the School City of East Chicago. She received her
BS degree from Valparaiso University and post-graduate degrees from
IU Northwest and Purdue Calumet. Betty is a Special Olympics volunteer and
is a recent graduate of the Indiana Principal Leadership Academy. One of her career goals

Sandra
Sperling – Crown Point is a Masters prepared Clinical Nurse Specialist in Adult Mental Health
Nursing, with two undergraduate degrees. She has held clinical
positions from floor nurse to nursing supervisor. Currently, she runs
the Nursing Learning Resource Center at IU Northwest, teaches online
courses for Ivy Tech and works as a Registry Nurse at St. Margaret
Mercy Hospital. She is also pursuing an MBA, after becoming intrigued
by the stock market. She is a wife and mother of four, with 2
daughters at IUB and 2 sons at Merrillville High, where her
husband became the principal recently after moving from Detroit. (Fall 03 / Spring 04) |

Pamela Stalling – Gary is the Executive Director of Consumer Credit Counseling Services of Northwest Indiana. Pam has a BA in Communications / Marketing from St. Louis University, is a Certified Credit Counselor and is currently pursuing a Graduate Certificate in Nonprofit Management at IU Northwest. She is involved in various organizations, including the Board of Economist for The Times Newspaper, Gary Rotarian, Membership Chair Person for Credit Professionals of Illiana, secretary of Gary PTA Council and she is very active in her church. In her spare time Pam enjoys early morning walks. Most importantly, she loves being married and spending quality time with her four children. (Spring / Fall 02) |

Linda Stevens – Hammond is currently employed by Roseland Community Hospital as Director of Managed Care Services. During her five-year tenure with the company, Linda has advanced from case manager to her current position. She earned her BSN from Purdue University and is currently earning her MPA at IU Northwest. Linda has held leadership positions in Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. and the Minority Student Nurse Association. She has volunteered within the Hammond Public Schools and for the Maywood Little League. Linda's goals include pursuit of her PhD, a position as president for a health care system, and ultimately teaching at the university level.

Jennifer Stewart - Gary is an undergraduate student at IU Northwest. She works for the Gary Accord SPLASH
Program, which operates out of Lew Wallace High School in Gary, the
school from which she graduated. Jennifer is the President of the
Helping Young People through Education Program (H.Y.P.E.) at IU Northwest. She is very active in her community. Her future goal is

Twan
Stokes – Gary is a Family Case Manager at the Lake County Department of Child
Services. She graduated with honors from the University of
Wisconsin-Milwaukee in May 2002 with a B.A. in Political Science-Law
Studies and a minor in Sociology. She is former Ministry Leader of
Zion Progressive Church Outreach and Grief Ministry in Gary,
Indiana. Twan plans to receive her M.S.W. in May 2008. |

Joyce Taylor - Gary after a successful career in the insurance industry, returned to
school and earned an AA Degree. In May 2005, Joyce obtained a BS
in Public Affairs with concentrations in Public Management and
Environmental Policy. In service to her church, she volunteered
teaching the art of crocheting under the Youth Motivating Toward
Development Summer Program. In service to her community, she
volunteered tutoring students at Beveridge Elementary School and the
Youth Foundation Community Renewal Center under the NWI Literacy Corp
Program. Joyce is currently active in the Neal Marshall Alumni
Association, Student Activity Board, Roosevelt High School Alumni, the
Black Student's Union and is a member of the National Honor Society of
Phi Alpha Alpha. Joyce is mother to Desiree and works part time

Judy Tellez – Portage graduated with a
BS in Nursing in 2002 where she received the “Outstanding Service Award”. She is currently working at Community Hospital in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. Judy is very active in her community and on campus. She has held board positions such as Treasurer and Vice-President of the Student Nurses' Association at IU Northwest. She has also held these positions for the Indiana State Student Nurses' Association. She has done volunteer work for her community, church, and Junior Achievement. Derick Thielbar – Portage is a Labor Specialist for UPS Hodgeskin, IL. After years as a union officer and completing his
BA in Business Administration. Derick is utilizing the skills and techniques he learned in the program to help management in all labor issues at UPS. Hillary Thieling - Chicago recently started her own residential cleaning service. Currently she is actively growing her business in the
Chicago-land area. While pursuing her BA at IU Northwest, Hillary was active in and lead a number of student organizations. She is also a happily married mother of two. Her immediate future goals include completing a

Elizabeth Thomas – Griffith is a registered respiratory therapist and certified in neonatal / pediatric respiratory care. She
currently works at a local children's hospital. Elizabeth graduated in December 2000 with her BS in Health Services Management and has an AS in Respiratory Therapy. She serves
on the Board of Directors for Meals on Wheels and in the past has held
the office of treasurer/secretary. She earned her CTM (competent
toastmaster) through Toastmasters International. She is

Tracy
Garner Traut – Valparaiso is a senior at Indiana University Northwest. Tracy is majoring in Psychology with a concentration in Women’s
Studies. She is the mother of two fabulous boys, a member of Iota
Iota Iota and Psi Chi. Tracy is a volunteer guardian for Volunteer
Advocates for Seniors and is on the board for the Porter County
Family Counseling Center. Upon graduation from Indiana University
Northwest, Tracy plans on pursuing a Post-Baccalaureate Certificate
in Drug and Alcohol Addiction as well as pursuing a Master’s in
Social Work. |

Kimberly Turner – Merrillville is a Marketing and Sales Representative for Express Personnel Services. She has ten years of retail experience, running departments in excess of five million dollars. Her career objective is to own a business by combining her interest in computers with her strong retail background. She headed the “You Can Make A Difference” Campaign for the United Way and coordinated the Coats for Kids campaign through Sears Roebuck. Her future plans include pursuing her
