Specific Instructions for IU Northwest Users User ID's for Network AccessAll students, staff, and faculty of Indiana University Northwest may request an account on the network for use in accordance with University policy as stated in Computer Users' Privileges and Responsibilities Code of Conduct. Instructions for requesting an account on the Network are located on the IU Northwest home page, under Services, Computing, Campus E-mail Accounts. IU Northwest Student Technology CentersIn addition to the University-wide policy governing the management of computer data networks and resources, the following policies apply to the use of computing resources at IU Northwest. The rules are designed to make the Student Technology Centers pleasant places for everyone to work. Failure to abide by these policies can result in the loss of STC privileges. If you have a problem, please contact the STC Manager in Marram 103 or call 219-980-7109 or send E-mail to . AvailabilityAll Student Technology Centers on campus are available for use by currently enrolled Indiana University students, faculty, and staff during open hours. Current Indiana University identification cards are required. For students, this is a valid Student picture Identification Card showing current registration. ID Cards can be obtained during posted hours in the Office of Student Life & Athletics, Savannah Center - Room 217. Student Technology Center ConsultantsEach Student Technology Center has a Consultant who is responsible for the equipment and for maintaining the policies. Consultants are available to answer questions about the use and operation of the equipment and software, but they are not substitutes for the faculty. Manuals and documentation for some of the software used in each STC may be available from the STC Consultant, but increasingly, software documentation is available "on line" within each application's Help system. Other Learning ResourcesHands-on workshops or workshop handouts may be available (depending on the application) from the Training Coordinator in Hawthorn 108B. On-line IT Training is available through IU. In addition, video tapes and/or CD Roms are available for some applications at the Circulation Desk in the Main Library. Special RestrictionsAll lab users MUST follow STC Lab Etiquette. PrintingAll Student Technology Centers have high quality laser printers with the exception of the library. At this time there is no fee for laser printing. To help keep costs down and continue the availability of laser printers, only printing which directly relates to current coursework at Indiana University is permitted and a maximum of three (3) copies of that work may be produced. Additionally, only paper provided by the STC's can be used in the laser printers. Authorized SoftwareCopyright laws prohibit the copying or unauthorized use of any software in the computer Computer Technology Centers. As may be expected, the University upholds and enforces Title 17, Section 117 of the United States Code. Additionally, the University does not permit unlicenced or personal software of any kind to be used on the equipment. Student Technology Center HoursThe schedules are posted outside each STC.
