During the summer, Indiana University Northwest, in Gary, Indiana, hosts an exciting and rewarding experience for students.
Kids College is a summer program that offers more than twenty-four courses during a three-week session.
The sessions are held Monday through Thursday. The sessions begin on June 18, 2007 and end on July 5, 2007.
Kids College classes cover a wide range of topics such as "Super Science", "Crime Busters", ISTEP+ Preparation for
Mathematics and Reading, Art, Spanish, Ballet, Crafts, Phonics, Basketball, Theater, Chess, Career Games, Japanese Animation,
and Anthropology. These classes will enrich and enhance the students' understanding of the subject material.
The teachers teach all of the classes using hands-on approaches. The classes are also taught without academic screening, tests,
and homework. The teachers encourage creativity and intellectual curiosity. The students come to learn new things, but they
also learn things about themselves.
This is our twenty-fourth summer of Kids College. Kids College started in 1983 and had tripled in size since 1989.
More than ten-thousand students participated in Kids College during the program's first decade. During the last several years,
Kids College has set attendance records.
Students have come from all over the United States and as far away as Mexico and Germany. The students come from varied backgrounds, which bring them together culturally.
