Assistant Professor - Department of Sociology and Anthropology

Indiana University Northwest, Department of Sociology and Anthropology, invites applications for a tenure-track position in cultural anthropology at the level of Assistant Professor.  The successful candidate will be one of two full time anthropologists at IU Northwest and will be part of a new four-field joint BA in Anthropology offered in conjunction with Indiana University South Bend.  Position begins August 15, 2010.  We are searching for a faculty member in cultural anthropology with a background in Native Americans, including prehistory. 

Qualifications:  Candidate will have a PhD in Anthropology, will teach introductory, mid-and upper-level courses in cultural anthropology, a variety of courses on Native Americans, a course in ethnographic field methods, and be able to rotate in a capstone course on the history and theory of anthropological thought.  Other areas of specialization are open and desirable.  It is required that the candidate have teaching experience with documentation of excellence and evidence of successful research and an on-going research program.
