Associate Executive Vice Chancellor - Office of Academic Affairs

Indiana University Northwest (IU Northwest) invites applications and nominations for the position of Associate Executive Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs (AEVCAA) responsible for curricular issues and academic services.  This is a 12-month, full-time administrative appointment with faculty rank, beginning January 1, 2010, reporting to the Executive Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs.  This position provides a leadership role in faculty and student scholarship and research supporting academic enhancement activities including international education, internships, and service learning. 

The successful candidate will possess the knowledge and skills to oversee curriculum changes and course development/offerings, the development and periodic review of the general education program programmatic assessment, and assessment of student learning outcomes.In addition, this position is responsible for overseeing the Academic Affairs section of Campus Accreditation through AQIP, as well as Convocation and Academic Ceremonies.

The AEVCAA will provide leadership for research programs and scholarly efforts to advance academic excellence in teaching and scholarship (traditional faculty research and other creative works and engagement in the arts and professional education).  In this capacity, the AEVCAA will supervise the Office of Sponsored Research and develop efforts to enhance faculty grant-seeking for teaching and research endeavors.  The AEVCAA supervises the Office of Human Subjects Research to ensure that research using human subjects complies with the federal guidelines.

The AEVCAA will work with the academic deans and the registrar on academic scheduling, resolve student academic issues with deans and faculty committees, and oversee academic outreach, including relationships with community colleges, as well as other duties assigned by the Executive Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs.

Minimum Qualifications:  A PhD or equivalent is required, as well as three or more years in an academic leadership position (department chair and beyond), or two or more years in similar position (Assistant/Associate VPAA/VCAA/Provost).  Applicants should possess a record of teaching/scholarship commensurate with appointment in an academic area at the Associate or Full Professor level with tenure.

Preferred Qualifications:  Knowledge of Indiana University curricular/program approval process is highly desirable, as is supervisor experience and track record of working collaboratively with faculty and staff.
