Associate Dean - College of Arts & Sciences (COAS) 

This position is open ONLY to qualified IU Employees in COAS.

IU Northwest invites internal nominations and applications for the tenured position of Associate Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences (COAS).  Responsibilities include assisting the Dean with representation of the unit internally and externally; assisting with data management and the development and measurements toward departmental self studies and outcomes, curriculum, and college and campus General Education and Student Outcomes Assessment related to COAS.  The Associate Dean will also be involved with numerical and qualitative data and issues of budget and resources, enrollment, student and staff concerns and evaluations, class scheduling and teaching loads, and other duties as needed that enhance excellence.  The Associate Dean will teach one regularly enrolled course inload each semester--Fall and Spring.  

Qualifications:  An earned Ph. D or equivalent terminal degree in an Arts and Sciences area and balanced experience in teaching, research, service, and some academic administration experience.  The COAS has approximately 80 faculty in fifteen formal departments and programs.  Demonstrated abilities to work with all COAS programs in a variety of disciplines is important, particularly those from the behavioral and natural sciences as well as the humanities and the social sciences.  Some budget experience and effective communication skills are important to the position. 

The salary and rank will be commensurate with experience.  A competitive benefits package is associated with the position.
