IU IT Policies
IU Northwest Website Code and Content PolicyThe Office of Information Technology strives to serve our campus clients with the highest quality level concerning web issues; therefore, it is critical that everyone understands and cooperates with the IU Northwest Website Code and Content Policy. This policy establishes a foundation to ensure that all official university web sites will function properly, now and in the future. The IU Northwest website design is a collective and united effort to develop a more consistent standard in which campus websites are designed. It is in compliance with Indiana University’s Integrated Image Initiative and the IU Visual Identity. This web account access policy follows Indiana University IT policy and is designed to foster better accountability and coding consistency. The purpose of this policy is to protect the integrity of the network and website accounts. This policy also protects our campus programmers / personnel by requiring a sponsor and contact person to be registered when a website is created. This qualifies those registered sponsors and contacts to be approved to have the passwords and account access. Listed IU Northwest Webmasters are the contact for the content on the websites and are responsible for keeping the content current. Unless the webmaster is the sponsor, contact person, e-mail accessor or coder, they may not have the password access for the website. Webmasters are responsible to contact the registered website coder to update information on the website if the webmaster is not also the coder. When a department creates a new account, e.g., a student organization account where one student in that organization is responsible for the website and another student is to be responsible for the e-mail account; since, IU policy prohibits asking for and/or giving out passwords, this current IU Northwest Website Code and Content Policy provides an approved vehicle for registering users so they are officially given access to passwords by registering and following the policy's procedures. This IUN policy allows IU Northwest campus users to be protected while remaining in compliance with IU's policy for not giving out passwords. Computer Usage PolicyAll users are responsible for complying with Indiana University’s ITPO Computer Users' Privileges and Responsibilities at all time. Any violation of these University-wide policies will be reported to the Policy Office and subject users to the termination of their workstation privileges and user network account as well as any fees, fines, or damages incurred by the violation of said policies. Cypher Lock Code PolicyThe Office of Information Technology and campus administration are charged with the proper care and security of the equipment provided in multimedia classrooms and computer classrooms. The cypher lock placed in doors provides faculty and some staff with access to these rooms on demand while maintaining security over the equipment and the room. The Office of Information Technology has a set of expectations for access to the specialized teaching facilities which must be accepted before access is granted. Access to Multimedia and Computer Classroom rules and regulations. Rights and Responsibilities StatementWhen you obtain a computer network account, you must agree to the Rights and Responsibilities Statement. It is available for you to review to be sure you follow it's policy. Additional Policies
