Monitoring The Performance Period During the performance period, the supervisor is to provide the communication, clarification, training, coaching, etc. that is necessary for good performance. Regular and immediate feedback should be provided to employees as incidences of outstanding, satisfactory or unsatisfactory performance occur. The performance review discussions which take place during January should provide no surprises. These regular performance feedback discussions should be documented, which can be as simple as jotting a brief note to an employee's file to identify the occurrence and the necessary specifics. It is important to document good performance as well as mediocre performance that needs to be improved. Without documentation, it is difficult to remember performance specifics that occurred during the entire performance period. |
