Undergraduate Research Fund General Information | Application Procedure | Application Deadline | Application Form General Information PURPOSE: The purpose of the Undergraduate Research Fund at Indiana University Northwest is to encourage undergraduates to actively engage in research and creative activities as part of their undergraduate major experience. The fund will provide financial support to undergraduates in the form of travel, supplies and under specific conditions, stipends. ELIGIBILITY: All upper division undergraduate students are eligible to apply. Enrollment in a discipline specific course is strongly recommended if such a departmental course is available, but is not necessary. Full-time faculty sponsorship is required. APPLICATION PROCEDURE: Applications for support must be developed and written by the student. Applications must follow the format shown on the application form . The proposed research/creative activity should produce results substantial enough to be presented at a campus level undergraduate research forum. Student participation by presentation at the IU undergraduate research conference (IUURC) in mid-fall 2003 is mandatory. Presentations at other university-wide, regional, professional or national conference is optional. Travel to conferences other than the IUURC should be incorporated into your budget and expenses should be broken down and shown in detail.. Travel for you and your advisor to the IUURC will be provided for you and your faculty mentor. Whenever possible, the application should indicate what, if any, in kind costs will be provided by the academic department or division. Completed applications forms, with signatures, should be sent to Dr. Kris Huysken, Geosciences, Marram 250, IUN. APPLICATION DEADLINE: Applications for the 2003-04
Undergraduate Research Fund at IUN will be received anytime. Closing deadline
is March 30, 2004. Late applications will be accepted, but funding
is contingent upon the availability of residual funds. EVALUATION: Applications
will be evaluated by a faculty committee composed of, in part, the faculty
