Welcome

The Department of English at Indiana University Northwest teaches the history, aesthetics and analysis of English and American literature. It also has a substantial program in writing, including creative writing (poetry and fiction), as well as professional writing and intermediate and advanced expository writing. The department regularly offers courses in the full range of English and American literary studies (including Chaucer and Shakespeare, different periods and genres, linguistics, and special topics seminars). We stress as central to our program the study of language and writing. The department objectives are both to help students write clearly and forcefully and to appreciate the artistic and cultural values of literature.
