Grades & Expectations

Field Experience Expectations

  • You are expected to attend ALL CLASSES—workshops and field experiences—and to participate actively in class discussions and debriefing sessions.
  • You are expected to fulfill your professional responsibilities with respect to the field placement, including, but not limited to, (1) arriving on time, (2) notifying your host teacher and your instructor in advance if you have a personal emergency, and (3) becoming familiar with school policy & procedures—especially emergency procedures.
  • You are expected to submit lesson plans on time—at least one or more weeks before teaching a lesson—and to make recommended changes.

Pass/Fail Grading System
M201 is graded on a pass/fail basis. You will be evaluated in five areas: (1) weekly attendance and punctuality, (2) professional preparations and presentation, (4) lesson plans, (3) participation in discussions ,and (5) attitude. Your performance will be judged according to a minimum expected competency level in each category, rated as “satisfactory” or “unsatisfactory.” Note: You must achieve a “satisfactory” rating for BOTH of the first two categories in order to pass the course. Unprofessional behavior such as missing or arriving late to your field experiences, will result in a grade of “F” or an “NC.” The criteria that will be used to determine whether or not you pass M201 are available at: M201 Evaluation Criteria.
