Project Director and Principle Investigator - IUN Department of Minority Studies Enviromental Justice Partnership, funded by the U.S. Enviromental Protection Agency for $271,000.00. Part of the grant is to establish an Environmental Resource Center. The center will work with the local public schools to educate students about environmental hazards in their communities.

Topic: Transformation, Poverty and African American Children. This research examines the basis of transformation in American society, its impact on poverty, the impact on African American children. The paper focuses on improving the lives of African American children and provides a quasi experimental pre-test/post-test case study analysis of an initiative to improve the conditions of Afican American children in a changing environment. Several preliminary observations regarding programming to improve the lives of African American children in light of transformation, and a changing environment are suggested. This is the second year of the anticipated five year study.
