Welcome to the Northern Indiana Consortium for the Environment (NICE) Recent Updates: The Northern Indiana Consortium for the Environment (NICE) is a consortium of IU Northwest and its Center for Regional Excellence (CRE), Purdue University Calumet, Purdue University North Central, Valparaiso University, Calumet College of St. Joseph, and Ivy Tech Community College promoting economic development through environmental restoration. After several years of meetings with academic, governmental, business, environmental, and not-for-profit partners, the presidents and chancellors of 6 colleges and universities have signed a memorandum of understanding; their working groups have established NICE. Academic partners are participants in the Quality of Life Council (academic institutions, government leaders, corporate and non-profit institutions). Save the Dunes Council is a non-profit partner. Potential partners include Mittal Steel, U S Steel, BP Amoco, and NiSource. Partners will have representation on an Advisory Board. Northwest Indiana GIS Forum will provide geographic information systems services such as electronic mapping, spatial information, archiving.
