Diversity Programming Group The Indiana University Northwest Diversity Programming Group is a collaboration of campus and community organizations that develop programs and activities designed to enrich the educational lives of the campus community and the residents of northwest Indiana. Diversity means different things to different people and we value all people at IU Northwest. There are components to our identity that make us as alike as they may make us unique and different. We believe that diversity both generally and specifically is essential to the process of cultural discovery, learning and educational engagement. When we say diversity we mean all components, including but not limited to race, ethnicity, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, socio-economic class, marital status, religious or non religious background, and mental and physical ability, to name just a few. A diverse campus provides for an environment which facilitates the free exchange of ideas among different perspectives and ways of being. Without exchange, learning is impossible. Without diverse perspectives, exchange is limited. We value diversity because we value learning. The Diversity Programming Group at IU Northwest strives to provide enrichment programs and activities that help break down the barriers of diversity and foster cultural understanding among all groups of people.
