IU Northwest: RedHawks Cheerleading

The IU Northwest RedHawks Coed Cheerleading Squad is open to men and women who are IU Northwest students. Tryouts are held in the spring and fall for the correspnding season. All students who have tumbling, cheer, dance and gymnastics experience are encouraged to tryout, however previous formal experience is not required. The squad cheers at all home games for both the men's and women's basketball teams and at occasional away games and tournaments.

Those students interested in trying out for the squad must attend the cheerleading preparation clinic to be held on

5:30 – 9:30 p.m.

The clinic will be held in the Savannah Gymnasium and will help participants prepare their skills for the tryouts. Participants will be required to learn a floor cheer, 2-3 sideline cheers, IU fight song and school song for tryouts. Friday, May 30, 2008
5:30 p.m.- 6:00 p.m.	Check in and paperwork review Pre-registration and an application are required for participation. Applications and a registration form can be completed online at www.iun.edu/~cheer/application.shtml . Interested students must be good academic standing to participate.
6:30 p.m.- 9:30 p.m.	CHEER CLINIC - OPEN GYM This session is set to review sidelines, fight song, school song, and to warm up standing tumbling. There is no built-in lunch time scheduled, so plan accordingly.
	We will be making at least one cut during the 4:30 p.m. - 9 p.m. session. There is a possibility that two cuts will be made during this time. Those that are chosen for round two will be posted no later than 8 a.m. on Saturday, April 19, 2008.

9:00 a.m. - 12:15 p.m.	ROUND ONE OF SELECTION WEEKEND We will be evaluating the following skills in round one: sidelines, fight song, school song, jumps, partner stunts, standing tumbling and series tumbling.
12:30 p.m. - 1:30 p.m.	LUNCH
1:30 p.m. - TBA	ADDITIONAL EVALUATIONS IF NEEDED The 2008-09 teams will be announced after the conclusion of round one. If you are selected for one of our teams, you must attend a mandatory meeting that will follow the selection process.
