The IU Northwest RedHawks Coed Cheerleading Squad is open to men and women who are IU Northwest students. Tryouts are held in the Summer for the correspnding season. All students who have tumbling, cheer, dance and gymnastics experience are encouraged to tryout, however previous formal experience is not required. The squad cheers at all home games for both the men's and women's basketball teams and at occasional away games and tournaments.

Indiana University Northwest will host tryouts for its 2009-10 coed cheerleading squad

8:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
Savannah Gymnasium

Those students interested in trying out for the squad must attend
the cheerleading preparation clinic to be held on
Friday, May 1, 2009
4:00 – 9:00 p.m.
Savannah Gymnasium

The clinic will be held in the Savannah Gymnasium and will help participants prepare their skills for the tryouts. Participants will be required to learn a floor cheer, 2-3 sideline cheers, IU fight song, and a short dance routine.. A completed application is required for tryout participation. Applications can be completed online at www.iun.edu/~cheer/application.shtml . Interested students must be good academic standing to participate. Current IU Northwest students must have a 2.0 GPA and incomcing freshman must provide a copy of their SAT score and an unofficial copy of their high school transcripts at the clinic on May 1.

You also must complete the "Limited Revocable License and General Release" form that's available on-line. Any clinic attendee 18 years of age or younger must have your parent sign the form as the witness.

The clinic is open to any high school seniors and current IU Northwest students trying out for the RedHawks Cheerleading Squad.

5:00 p.m.- 9:00 p.m.	CHEER CLINIC - OPEN GYM This session is set to review sidelines, floor cheer, stunting, fight song, dance routine, jumps, and timbling.

9:00 a.m. - 11:00 p.m.	ROUND ONE OF SELECTION WEEKEND We will be evaluating the following skills in round one: sidelines, fight song, floor cheer, jumps, partner stunts, standing tumbling and series tumbling.
11:30 p.m. - TBA	ADDITIONAL EVALUATIONS IF NEEDED The 2009-10 teams will be announced after the conclusion of round one. If you are selected for one of our teams, you must attend a mandatory meeting that will follow the selection process.
