Welcome to the RedHawks Cheerleading Website

The IU Northwest RedHawks Coed Cheerleading Squad is open to men and women who are IU Northwest students. Tryouts are held in the Summer for the correspnding season. All students who have tumbling, cheer, dance and gymnastics experience are encouraged to tryout, however previous formal experience is not required. The squad cheers at all home games for both the men's and women's basketball teams and at occasional away games and tournaments.

Fall Cheerleading Tryouts

Open Gym

Open Gym will be held in Savannah Center Gym from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday September 1st and Tuesday September 3rd from 6-8 p.m. At open gym you can practice stunts, jumps, and tumbling.

Tryouts

The clinic will be held on Thursday September 10th from 6-8 p.m. in the Savannah Center Gym and the tryout will be held on September 15th from 6-8 p.m. in the Savannah Center Aerobics Room. The squad will be announced shortly after tryouts.

  • Women Requirements:
    • 2-3 sidelines chants (taught at clinic)
    • Dance (taught at clinic)
    • Jumps: Toe touch, Double toe touch. Front hurdler
    • *Stunts: Extension, Liberty, Optional stunt
    • **Tumbling: Best standing tumbling, Best running pass

  • Men Requirements:
    • 2-3 sidelines chants (taught at clinic)
    • Jumps: Toe touch, Double toe touch. Front hurdler
    • *Stunts: Extension, Liberty, Optional stunt
    • **Tumbling: Best standing tumbling, Best running pass

  • *Stunts will be preformed in quads for the tryout. You may, however, partner stunt or stunt in a group of three for your optional stunt.

  • **Tumbling is not required, but is very highly recommended.

Fall Practice Days and Times

Fall semester practices will be held on Tuesdays from 6-8 p.m. and Thursdays from 6-7:30 p.m. with mandatory gymnastics class from 8-9 p.m. (Thursdays only). If you plan on trying out do not schedule any classes that end later than 5:45.
