2008-2009 Guideline

Overview

The Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning (CETL) wishes to promote faculty excellence in teaching and improvement in student learning. The Center encourages innovative pedagogical projects and programs that enhance the teaching of individual faculty members, help promote a vibrant teaching community at IUN, and improve student learning.  The Center will provide grants to faculty members. Projects must fit one or more of the following categories to be considered. Projects must have the potential for significant impact on student learning and development.

Awards will range from (a) $300-$600 per project for individual and/or (b) $300-$900 per project for group. Awards are available for projects in these categories:

1. Research on pedagogy at the college/university level including classroom assessment and classroom research.

2. Special, innovative teaching and learning projects in or outside of the classroom.

3. Travel related to professional development in the area of teaching and/or learning.

Each faculty member will be required to submit a brief report on the project or activities to CETL. In addition, each faculty member must be willing to give a brief presentation on the project or activities for the IUN community.

Eligibility

All tenured and tenure track faculty and non-tenure track instructors are eligible to apply for these funds. Preference will be given to new full time, tenure track faculty members. The recipients for 2007-08 are not eligible. Only one application per faculty will be accepted; an applicant should apply, as individual or group member.

A subcommittee of CETL's Advisory Board will read and evaluate the applications, based upon blind review process.
