Education Coordinator Intern
Job Description:
This internship is an opportunity for the chosen student to make an impact in Porter County by enhancing the Recycling & Waste Reduction District's outreach programs. The student will not only hone their professional communication skills, but gain experience working with local government and school systems. Time permitting, the internship includes public relations and business activities as well as education, community and public school outreach; however, the majority of job functions will be performed in an office setting.
The intern's main goal is to enhance the District's education and public relations program. The assistant shall assist the Specialist in delivering the District's message concerning RRR, source reduction, composting, HHW management and general environmental protection.
Duties include: Public relations development. Assist in development of special programs. Assist with logistics of major event if needed. Maintain, update and create print media. Attend education presentations where possible. Research gaps in PR program and offer suggestions for improvement within time and budget limits.
Occasional irregular work hours. Duties might include travel to presentations.
