Event Coordinator Internship

Job Description:
The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, located in South Bend, Indiana, currently has a part-time, paid Event Coordinator Internship available to begin immediately. This intern will assist the director with all the aspects of planning, preparation and fundraising for the Walk to Cure Diabetes. This includes the assistance of coordinating logistics, learning about the organization and the event to be able to conduct 15 minute information presentations on the Walk, and work with volunteers, staff and walkers to achieve monetary goals.

Students who are juniors or seniors pursuing a degree in Advertising, Communication Arts, Human Services, English, General Studies, Liberal Studies, Marketing, Mass Communication, Organization Leadership, Public Affairs, Public Relations or Non-Profit Management are preferred. Students must have an outgoing personality, ability to work with diverse groups of people (including family and corporate sponsors), ability to multitask, and be highly organized. An interest in event planning with a health / human services background is a plus. Students should have a willingness to travel within a 90 mile radius from the South Bend / Mishawaka area as well. Students may not necessarily be driving, but accompanying the Branch Manager to presentation sites.

This is a paid internship and may be eligible for academic credit. The pay rate for this internship is $10.00 - $12.00 per hour (depending on experience and skills). The intern will work approximately 15 - 20 hours per week. The internship will end in early December 2007.
