Job Title:
Civil Engineering Student Interns (2 positions)
Job Description:
Under immediate supervision performs work of routine difficulty in basic para-professional engineering assignments. This is beginning level engineering work performed in a training capacity. Assists on a surveying party. Operates survey equipment. Performs basic construction inspections, measurement of work quantities and investigations. Conducts field and laboratory tests on construction materials. Collects traffic data for traffic studies. Prepares working drawings from rough drafts or notes. Supervision and training is received from a professional engineer. Work is performed according to explicit instructions or established procedures and methods.
- Special Skills or Qualifications Required:
- Some knowledge of the practices and methods of civil engineering at a basic level.
- Some knowledge of sound practices of construction, the utilization of materials and the plans and composition of construction projects.
- Ability and willingness to learn engineering tasks and procedures.
- Ability to use engineering equipment, instruments, and testing devices, including computers and software.
- Ability to communicate effectively and follow oral and written instructions.
- Ability to establish and maintain satisfactory working relationships.
- Suggested Training and Experience:
- Completion of two years of education towards B.S. Degree in Civil Engineering, with enrollment in a Degree program at an accredited school.
- Salary: $13.45 Hourly
- Hours: 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
