Job Title:
Marketing & Communications Intern
Job Description:
Marketing & communications Intern assists with the creation, distribution and retention of various marketing material; managing of website and other communications vehicles; and performs related work as assigned.
- Major Responsibilities:
- Resource Development:
- Assists with promotion of agency special events and corporate campaigns.
- Marketing and Public Relations:
- Assists with marketing and public relations activities to increase the visibility of the organization.
- Maintains good public relations with local media contacts, members, families, alumni, and community leaders.
- Knowledge of:
- Record Keeping, report preparation, filing methods and records management techniques.
- Modern technology including computer use, Publisher desktop software, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Quark Xpress, Adobe, Excel, and Access.
- Website design, development, and management.
- Ability to:
- Type correspondence, memos and press releases / public service announcements.
- Assist with maintenance of agency website.
- Assist with writing and production of effective promotional material.
- Provide support for various fundraising projects and campaigns.
- Maintain effective working relationships with staff, volunteers, community groups, and other related agencies.
- Education, Experience, and Skills:
- High School Diploma and working towards a Journalism, Marketing, Public Relations or related degree.
- Intermediate to advanced Microsoft word, PowerPoint, Desktop Publishing Software, Excel, Access and Outlook skills.
- Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
- Possession of a valid state driver license.
- Relationships:
- Internal:
- Maintains close, daily contact with program staff (professional and volunteer), members and supervisor to receive / provide information, discuss issues, explain guidelines/instructions; instruct and advise / counsel.
- External:
- Maintains contact with members, families, alumni, youth serving professionals, other Boys & Girls Clubs, organizations and others to achieve program goals and objectives.
