Communications and Marketing Intern

Job Description:

• Work Schedule:
  • The Communications and Marketing Intern position for Summer 2007 will require 40 hours per week. Hours worked will typically be during normal business hours, although special events may require occasional evening or weekend hours. This is a paid internship.
• Qualifications:
  • At least six semesters completed in pursuit of a degree in communications, marketing, public relations or related field.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills required.
  • Graphic design experience or coursework preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Access) and QuarkXPress preferred.
• Responsibilities:
  • The Intern will have individual responsibilities, in addition to gaining exposure by working with communications and marketing staff on a variety of programs and projects.
  • Assist with planning and management of large-scale, media driven blood drives.
  • Assist with planning and management of region-wide, annual recognition event.
  • Assist with planning and implementation of community outreach events, including Three Rivers Festival Children’s Fest.
  • Assist communications and recruitment staff with development of college recruitment and retention program, to include any collateral materials.
  • Assist communications and recruitment staff with evaluation and revision of high school recruitment program.
• Additional Projects:
  • Additional projects and responsibilities may be added and will be dependent on the intern’s special skills and interests, any requirements for coursework, and industry and organizational changes that require shifts to the calendar or program planning.
• Supervision:
  • The intern will be primarily supervised by the Communications and Marketing Coordinator. However, the staff person working with the intern on specific projects will vary, and the staff person responsible for the project will drive timelines and deadlines.
