Eligibility Requirements
Students are eligible for an internship if they meet the following requirements:
- Undergraduate Students
- Have completed 30 academic semester hours prior to the start of your first work assignment as an Indiana University Northwest student. (Transfer, returning and graduate student must complete one semester at Indiana University Northwest (minimum 15 hours for undergraduates) prior to the start of their first work experience.
- Enrollment full-time or part-time in a degree seeking program.
- Maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 2.2 at Indiana University Northwest
- Remain in “good standing” with the University.
- Comply with all regulations of the Internship Program
- Graduate Students
- Enrolled full-time or part-time and have completed at least one semester at IU Northwest.
- Remain in “good standing” with the University.
- Comply with all regulations of the Internship Program.
Process
The internship program is a self-directed program, in which eligible students are responsible for identifying internship opportunities. You are expected to identify potential opportunities and work with your faculty mentor to ensure these opportunities are appropriate to your knowledge and skills and suitable for your goals.
Steps for participation
Step One: Identify an Internship Opportunity.
Step Two: Schedule an appointment with the Internship Coordinator
Step Three: Register on College Central
Step Four: Complete the following forms
- Internship Application
- Waiver of Liability
- Media Release Form
- Request Agreement Form
Step Five: Internship Completion
- Submit Employer Survey Form
- Submit Internship Survey Form
