Event Web Pages Linked to IUN Calendar

red line

Requirements for linking event information to IUN Calendar.

Your event will automatically be added to the IUN calendar if the item has been reserved with IUN's Event Scheduler. To better publicize your event, you may want to create a web page for your events to give additional information. When making a page to link from the IUN calendar, be sure to follow the calendar guidelines for saving and naming the file:

Calendar items should be in a directory named "cal" under the department's directory.  Under "cal" make a directory for the year ("2007", "2008", "2009").  When you make your calendar web page, be sure to save it with the date, example: 01-14-09.shtml.   The path for your calendar will be similar to:  http://www.iun.edu/~departmentname/cal/year/date-of-event.shtml

Sample file names...If you have multiple dates you can do the following:

  • For an event on April 3 use 3-3-09.shtml
  • For an event on April 28 and 29 use 4-28-29-09.shtml
  • For an event for a week, April 3 through April 7, use 4-3-7-09.shtml
If you have questions concerning the calendar, please contact Office of Marketing and Communications.

Please note that .shtml will be used for web pages to include the department's header, footer and links so that those things can be changed in one area.
