Message to Faculty Sexual
Harassers - YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE!
This message is intended for any
college or university faculty member who has engaged in sexual
harassment/sexual misconduct with students, is currently engaged in such
activities, or plans to do so in the future.
Let me be the first to emphatically
inform you that your unlawful, outrageous conduct will no longer be tolerated.
Sexual harassment represents an illegal violation of a student's civil rights
and is a cowardly abuse of your professorial power.
As a shameless sexual predator who
exploits students for your own personal gain, you have irrevocably violated the
trust that students and parents have placed in you and the university. You are a
disgrace to the professoriat and a horrible blight on the teaching profession.
By your unlawful actions and lack of
respect for fundamental student civil rights, you have forfeited your right to
be a faculty member. You are a menace to the welfare of any student you come in
contact with.
My advice to you is very simple.
Change careers quickly and find a job without any student contact. If you do not
depart the profession voluntarily, involuntary removal will be necessary.
Vigorous efforts are currently
underway to educate and empower students and their parents concerning faculty
sexual harassment/sexual misconduct. They will know what their civil rights are,
how to protect themselves, and how to file a complaint. Most importantly, they
will know how to collect hard evidence to document your abusive behavior.
Your days of exploiting relatively
uninformed, powerless female students are over. From this point on, you will
never know if your targeted victim is secretly tape-recording what you
say to her in person or on the telephone ( just the kind of hard evidence needed
to terminate a professor, even a tenured one).
We are strongly recommending that students and their parents directly contact you and formally inquire in writing about your prior disciplinary record for sexual harassment/sexual misconduct involving students before enrolling in one of your classes. As consumers, they have a right to know whether you have unlawfully violated student civil rights in the past.
We have also targeted university
administrators who have allowed you and other faculty sexual deviants to
victimize students for decades. These administrators will be held accountable by
students, parents, and the public for their role in enabling widespread student
abuse. We will strongly encourage universities to quickly terminate offending
faculty members and hold them personally and monetarily responsible for any
damage done.
Remember two recent court cases
involving William and Mary and Virginia Commonwealth University. After losing
sexual harassment lawsuits initiated by students, these institutions fired the
faculty perpetrators involved and then sued them in civil court to recover the
damage awards paid to the students, plus attorney fees. We applaud this
aggressive action and encourage more institutions to follow their lead.
If you are confused about whether
what you are doing constitutes sexual harassment/sexual misconduct, contact your
campus affirmative action officer, the office for Civil Rights of the Department
of Education or call me at (219) 980-6903 . If you cannot control your unlawful
behavior, leave the profession and seek professional assistance.
Under any circumstances, the sexual
harassment/sexual misconduct must stop and it must stop NOW!
ONE MORE VICTIM IS ONE TO MANY!
We will pursue every legal means at
our disposal to eradicate this national disgrace and insure that no more
students are victimized!
