{ Charles J. Hobson }

Charles J. Hobson earned his Ph.D. in Industrial/ Organizational Psychology from Purdue in 1981. He is currently an Associate Professor of Business Administration at Indiana University Northwest. Dr. Hobson has 21 years of experience teaching undergraduate and M.B.A. courses in organizational behavior and human resource management. He has served as a consultant and trainer to 130 companies and universities, including several Fortune 500 firms, and functioned as an expert witness in 28 employment discrimination cases, often involving sexual harassment allegations. Dr. Hobson has 103 professional publications/ presentations and one book, including an upcoming article in College Student Affairs Journal entitled Sexual Harassment Preventative and Protective Practices at U.S. Colleges and Universities.

 

In the area of sexual harassment, Dr. Hobson has functioned as a teacher, advisor, consultant, trainer, researcher, and expert witness. He has authored three training handbooks on preventing sexual harassment in higher education from the perspective of students, staff, and faculty. His continuing battles to prevent faculty sexual harassment of students at Indiana University have lead to the involvement of Governor Frank O' Bannon, several written complaints with the Department of Education and the EEOC, and multiple lawsuits and testimony against the university.


{ Colleen L. Hobson }

Colleen L. Hobson earned a Bachelor's of Science in Nursing degree from the Medical College of Virginia in 1977, followed by an M.S. in Interdisciplinary Studies from Virginia Commonwealth University in 1984. She has worked in a variety of psychiatric inpatient and outpatient clinical settings with several organizations, including the Psychiatric Institute of Richmond in Richmond, VA; HCA Dominion Hospital in Falls Church, VA; the Visiting Nurses Association in Arlington, VA: Rush Presbyterian-St. Luke's Hospital in Chicago, IL; and the Center for Family Wellness in Schererville, IN. Ms. Hobson is presently employed as a nurse case manager with Genex Corporation in Grand Rapids, MI.

 

Ms. Hobson has over 12 years of clinical psychiatric experience treating adolescent victims of sexual abuse. She has observed "first hand" the psychological and physical trauma commonly associated with cases involving sexual harassment. A major focus of her work has been on preventing revictimization by enhancing self-esteem, developing self-respecting behavior patterns, and formulating assertive coping strategies to confront potential abusers.
