Biology: The Life Science Department at IU Northwest

The Department of Biology is the home of life sciences at Indiana University Northwest. We offer students the foundational education and critical experience in understanding all areas of biology from molecules and cells to organisms, populations and ecosystems.

Our undergraduate programs are shaped to interface with the expertise of our faculty and the resources in our surroundings. Our diverse, flexible programs are designed to accommodate the widest range of individuals who are interested in pursuing a degree in the life sciences. In order to meet the challenges of a dynamic employment market, students’ coursework is organized along specific tracks. 

Students who major in biology can concentrate their study in specific areas such as:

  • Pre-professional Study and Bio-Medical Science (i.e., professions in human health fields)
  • Biotechnology and Molecular Biology
  • Environmental Science
  • Organismal Biology
