I. Introduction
- The club promotes a four sub-field approach to holistically represent the discipline while providing the opportunity for the student to explore and expand on their own niche in anthropology.
- This goal is met by:
- Biyearly speakers in the four sub-fields
- Academic Achievement Awards
- Field School Stipend Awards
- Conference Stipends
- Club Outings
- Movie Nights
- Darwin Day
- Vessel of Intrigue Discussions
II. Business
- Spring Goals:
- More discussion and less business
- This semester we have started a club newsletter highlighting club activities, upcoming events in anthropology on as wells as off campus. (Thank you Mara!)
- There has also been discussion about an online news letter for anth club members. It would include information like:
- Reminders of upcoming monthly events
- Proposals for upcoming events
- Submit vessel questions
- Links for field school opportunities
- Participate in discussion with other clubs on campus to create a sense of unity amongst the students (Sociology, Biology, and Geology Clubs)
- Suggested meeting place for “Anthro Pub & Grub Night” Thursday s at 7:30pm in The Old Country Lounge located in Hobart, IN about ten minutes from campus.
- Sociology Club has been notified with this info
- Do we want to go and check this place out after Dr. Wright’s presentation?
- Meeting dates:
- The Thursday meetings at 12:30pm may need to be revised because it conflicts with an anth courses getting out at 12:45pm.
- We also need to figure out the dates for the rest of the semester, continuing after March. We also need to figure out the remainder of speaker nights so Michelle has enough time to contact potential speakers.
- Book Sale:
- Need to figure out date.
- We’ve had votes for March 7 th (week before break, CSAS, and we may not have good attendance that Friday), March 20 th (Week after break), and April 3 rd (AAPA).
