Anthropology Club Minutes for November 12, 2003

I. Old Business

A. Mike is now our web master

1) Feel free to send him anthro news to but on the clubs web site

B. Digital Camera will be purchased for roughly $150

1) If ordered from Amazon.com so there will be no tax
2) Club request a camera that will take regular batteries that will not require their own battery charger
3) Want a camera with at least a 64 MHz memory stick

(a) This could be purchased separately

C. Four Wheel Cart for Book Sale (transporting books)

1) Suggestion to look at Sam's Club
2) Suggestion to keep it with police bikes where tables are
3) Ask Dave to look into pricing

D. Tables are now located in the Police area where their bikes are

1) Area is kept locked

E. Book sale canvas tote bags and tee-shirts

1) The $1 flyer for the book sale has been modified by its designer

(a) Kim from marketing
(b) Bill is now black and white with modifications of IUN and anthro club symbols

2) Scooby's silk screening in Chesterton is being researched for printing of the canvas bags and tee-shirts
3) Club would like bill to have light green shading with black and white back ground to keep the cost down
4) Need to find out the minimum order they could print for us

(a) For tee-shirts would like maximum order of (25-30) tee-shirts

5) Prefer 100% cotton tee-shirts

(a) Various sizes small up to XXL
(b) Need to figure out how many of each size by checking into last years sales

6) Club would like one size silk screen to fit all tee-shirts printed
7) Need to find out what type of canvas material would be best for bill print

II. New Business

A. Maps purchased by club

1) Need to be posted

(a) Labels need to be made for the base of the maps that say "Donated by IUN Anthropology Club"

2) Do we want maps posted by club members or IUN staff

(a) Find out what Don Stewart thinks

B. Student will post notice for club logo contest in art room located in Tamarack
C. Need to look new ideas for mugs and items to sell at book sale

2) Suggestion to look on Paleo tech web site

(a) France Co.

D. Need to start getting up coming events out to students

1) CSAS
2) Annual AAA meeting in Chicago

E. Club is donating cast model for anthro lab

1) Proconsul, "Lucy"

(a) Bear paw hand- most human like

F. Idea of being able to get stipend for field school more than once

1) needs further discussion?

G. Request to get magazines/books/journals

1) Archaeological Institute of America (AIA)
2) AAA guide to graduate schools

H. Professor Jack Bloom is having a Christmas Party

1) After finals on a Saturday
2) At home in Valparaiso , IN
