Anthropology Club Minutes for September 10, 2003

Jackie Donelson is allotting a full page of the Northwest Phoenix to art and the Anthropology Club.

•  Those who would like to submit anything having to do with art or anthropology are welcome.
•  September 17 th issue will include her article "Grandma's Cookies and why we Started Wearing Clothes," Field School articles (I notified Mara, Jennifer, and Buddy, and welcomed them to submit photo's and an article.)
•  We also discussed other possible ideas for the Newspaper which the executive meeting had brain stormed about. Ideas include:

1. Weekly anthropological questions that will be given then answered in the following issue.
2. Anthropological conference schedule that she will get from Dr. Mucci's Newsletter
3. A section for submitting questions (Where do we want the coupon turned in to?)
4. What will always be in every issue: What our club stands for, what we do, why anthropology is important (I called Michelle during the meeting to find out what the club would like to say about the above topics.)

Dates for speakers:

1. Friday September 26th after the club meeting
Field School Presentations (Mara, Jennifer, Buddy, and myself)

• Do we want everyone to present on the same Friday?
• I have volunteered to go first.
• All others mentioned above were given the date and told of the event

2. Friday September 17th after the club meeting
Primatologist, Howler monkeys (Prof. Kathy Rizzo)

3. Friday November 7 th after the club meeting
Forensic Entomologist (Dr. Bernard Greenberg)

•  Was contacted via email Wednesday September 10 th with questions discussed at the executive meeting on Monday September 7 th and revised by Dr. Mucci. (See Buddy's Minutes for details)
•  Reply by Dr. Greenberg war roughly: Let me think about what would be most interesting to your group and I'll get back to you. I will need a VCR.
•  He has not contacted me again so I will be calling him on Tuesday September 16 th reminding that he has spoken here before and telling him our University has individuals interested in forensics, Criminal Justice, and how bugs help solve crime.

Other Business

• If anyone would prefer to have Prof. Stokely or Dr. Reynolds visit our campus please contact me with their contact information so the club can plan accordingly.
• I referred back to last spring semesters notes and I do not have how much money was allotted for tape recorders. (Buddy do you have it?)
• I will be available for executive meetings Monday through Thursday after 6:45pm. And on Friday's at any time. Saturday's and Sunday's are pending my work schedule and I would need to be notified a week in advance to request off. I would like to set a some what permanent schedule for executive meetings where everyone can attend. If every other week would be better for attendance that would be fine with me. How about every other Thursday at 7:15pm, McDuffy's?
• Buddy if you want to do the Field School presentation together you need to contact me with your schedule, because I have already prepared the outline. Professor Mucci for the Field School presentation of Friday September 26th I will need an overhead projector where I can show photos.
• We need to form a committee for student get a life September 15-17th
• Kathy should I go ahead and contact Prof. Rizzo about October?
