Event information:

Hemani Hughes Speaks about Business Ties, Culture and Diversity, and Race Issues in India.

WIUN Radio in association with the WIUN Radio Production and Direction I class (TEL-R 308) will broadcast a LIVE WIUN Speaker Series interview on communication in India from an American business perspective with guest speaker, Hemani Hughes from 6 pm to 6:45 pm, Thursday, April 17, 2014 in the IU Northwest Moraine Student Lounge; 3400 Broadway; Gary, IN 46408.

The campus and community are invited to the free event featuring Hemani Hughes sharing the relevancy of US-India ties for American business and communication students, a cultural and diversity comparison and contrast between the US and India, and the race issues relating to business and interpersonal communication in India.  Concerning politics, Hughes says, “Recruit an expert in public communications to help you develop a communication strategy for your campaign.  How can you possibly develop a communications strategy when you have no money for copies or buttons?”

WIUN RedHawk Radio

WIUN, Indiana University Northwest's Campus Radio Station, has successfully recruited a new team with great new ideas for the future of WIUN Radio and its role within the campus community. Stay tuned for photos of our new staff, plus staff bios to help you get to know them a little better. WIUN features music from independent and major record labels throughout the United States and the world. We play 24/7 online and feature a dedicated stream for live broadcasts of WIUN Sports, Men's and Women's Basketball and Women's Volleyball when in season.

We are looking for new staff members at all times to help us stay up to date with local news and music. We like to be an outlet for local musicians to get their music heard. As Indiana University Northwest's only radio station, we play to the campus community in the Moraine Student Cafeteria and to anyone following us and listening to Indiana University Northwest RedHawk games.

Want to be a part of the team? We have immediate openings in the following areas:

-Music Review & Programming: Members of the Music Review and Programming Committee receive and review music submitted to us from record labels, solicit record labels for upcoming artists, and decide the overall sound of WIUN.

-Sports: WIUN Sports Broadcasters attend games, do live play-by-play, color commentary, and interviews with players and coaches. In the offseason we do shows relating to sports in the Northwest Indiana and Chicagoland region. Other kinds of sports programming are also welcome!

-Outreach: Members of the Outreach department create relationships with student groups on campus to get the latest news of what is going on around campus, coordinate with different programs to stay up to date with their plans to improve the campus community, and create public service announcements and news items to be streamed via our webstream to the campus and the world

-DJ's & Hosts: WIUN Supports programming from independent DJ's playing unique programming covering topics from Jazz to Contemporary Social Issues.

Contact us at wiun@iun.edu to join our team today! We have weekly meetings & get-togethers to keep up-to-date with committee work.
