Live broadcast discussion of Indiana University Northwest’s
“Walk for Water Project.”
As a part of Communication Week, the Radio Production and Direction class, in conjunction with IUN’s online radio station WIUN, will host a live broadcast discussion of the Walk for Water project with Dr. Erin Argyilan, Melissa Dorton, and Ryan Dahl, April 22, 6pm, in the Moraine Student Center, on the campus of Indiana University Northwest, 3400 Broadway Gary, Indiana.
According to thethirstproject.org, almost one billion people on our planet don’t have access to safe, clean, drinking water and proper sanitization. Eighty percent (80%) of all global diseases are water-borne and result from drinking contaminated water. These diseases kill more than 2.2 million people every year.
The Geology Club's 3rd Annual Walk for Water is seeking to raise $7,800 to install a well to provide fresh water in Uganda, Africa. All proceeds from the event will benefit The Thirst Project, a nonprofit started by college students looking to save lives. The walk will take place April 26, 10am, at the Indiana Dunes State Park (City West Shelter) State Rd. 49, in Chesterton Indiana.
As a part of our Speaker Series, this live broadcast will be streamed on WIUN. Following the discussion, there will be an opportunity for questions or comments relating to the discussion. To participate go to www.iun.edu/wiun or follow us on twitter https://twitter.com/wiunradio #w4wiun. The event is free to the public.
WIUN, Indiana University Northwest's Campus Radio Station, has successfully recruited a new team with great new ideas for the future of WIUN Radio and its role within the campus community. Stay tuned for photos of our new staff, plus staff bios to help you get to know them a little better. WIUN features music from independent and major record labels throughout the United States and the world. We play 24/7 online and feature a dedicated stream for live broadcasts of WIUN Sports, Men's and Women's Basketball and Women's Volleyball when in season.
We are looking for new staff members at all times to help us stay up to date with local news and music. We like to be an outlet for local musicians to get their music heard. As Indiana University Northwest's only radio station, we play to the campus community in the Moraine Student Cafeteria and to anyone following us and listening to Indiana University Northwest RedHawk games.
Want to be a part of the team? We have immediate openings in the following areas:
-Music Review & Programming: Members of the Music Review and Programming Committee receive and review music submitted to us from record labels, solicit record labels for upcoming artists, and decide the overall sound of WIUN.
-Sports: WIUN Sports Broadcasters attend games, do live play-by-play, color commentary, and interviews with players and coaches. In the offseason we do shows relating to sports in the Northwest Indiana and Chicagoland region. Other kinds of sports programming are also welcome!
-Outreach: Members of the Outreach department create relationships with student groups on campus to get the latest news of what is going on around campus, coordinate with different programs to stay up to date with their plans to improve the campus community, and create public service announcements and news items to be streamed via our webstream to the campus and the world
-DJ's & Hosts: WIUN Supports programming from independent DJ's playing unique programming covering topics from Jazz to Contemporary Social Issues.
Contact us at email@example.com to join our team today! We have weekly meetings & get-togethers to keep up-to-date with committee work.
