  • I want to add an image to my website, what do I do?


    There are two alternatives for adding an image to your website.

    1. Provide an image of your own

    Your image must be approved by the Office of Marketing and Communications before you can add the image to your site. Once Marketing has approved your image, you can then add it to your website. Web Services does ask that you compress your image (so it is not too large to load on the page) beforeadding it to your website.

    Here is a list of instructions on how to compress an image. 

    1. Open this page in your browser: https://tinypng.com/

    2. Drag and drop the image you need to compress

    3. Select download

    4. The compressed image will be in the download folder in your computer and it is ready to be
    uploaded into WCMS

    2. Use an image from the IU Northwest Flickr  site. Our Flickr site has many different images to choose from, and these images have already been approved by Officeof Marketing and Communications.

    • Select the image you want to use
    • Choose the size of the image
    • Download the image

    3. You can request a photo for your website through the New website or Significant Request form.

  • How do I upload an image?

    No problem, if you forgot how to upload pdfs, images or create links. We have a wide variety of training documentation to help you along the way. Please refer to the “Upload an Image in WCMS” document on our documentation page.

  • I want to add videos to my website, what do I do?

    Your videos must be approved by the Office of Marketing and Communications before you can add them to your website. Once Marketing has approved the video, contact WebServices at [[iunhelp]]and we will be happy to assist you.

  • I need information updated on a website and I do not have edit permissions?

    If you have information that resides on another IU Northwest website, and you cannot edit it, please contact the Content Manager for that site. Please refer to our content mangers page.

  • I forgot how to upload a pdf.

    No problem, if you forgot how to upload pdfs, images or even create links. We have a wide variety oftraining documentation to help you along the way.

  • How do I add SEO to my site?

    Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is very important for a website. SEO improves and promotes a websiteto increase the number of visitors the site receives from search engines. For more information on howto add SEO to your site, please refer to the “SEO in WCMS” document on our documentation page.

  • What are best practices to follow?

    Web Services has a number of best practices to  follow when creating or maintaining a page. These best practices are important to help users search and find your content. Please refer to the “WCMS Best Practices” documentation on our documentation page.

  • Why do I have broken links when I haven’t edited my site?

    In this case, chances are the link has changed on another website you were linking to. All you need to dois update the link to point to the new URL.
