Open Computing Labs for Students at IU Northwest

At Indiana University, "STC" refers to a Student Technology Center (computing lab). The STCs offer a broad range of computing resources to the IU Northwest community. We hope that you find the information here informative and that you have an enjoyable computing experience.

If you have any questions while you are working in the lab, the Student Technology Consultant on duty will be happy to assist you.

About STCs

There are two STCs on campus staffed and run by UITS Northwest. Marram 103 has computers running Microsoft Windows 8 and the latest Macintosh operating system and Microsoft Office as well as many other academically related programs.  Our Portage University Center site also offers an open STC lab in Room 208.

Additional computing resources are available in the Anderson Library: Info Commons One on the first floor is a large "family-friendly" computing area next to the Little RedHawk Cafe; Room 130 is a multi-media lab; Info Commons Two is a "collaboration lab;" and Info Commons Three on the third floor is a "quiet lab" and also has plug-in stations for laptop users. A combination of STC Consultants and Library personnel are on duty to assist users.

The STCs are always staffed by Student Technology Consultants. They are there to answer questions, maintain the lab equipment, and to enforce the lab policies. If you are interested in working as a STC Consultant, please see the STC Consultant Job Description.

In addition to the University-wide policy governing the management of computer data networks and resources, the following policies apply to the use of computing resources at IU Northwest. The rules are designed to make the Student Technology Centers pleasant places for everyone to work. Failure to abide by these policies can result in the loss of STC privileges. If you have a problem, please contact the STC Supervisor in Hawthorn 108 or call 219-981-4357 or send e-mail to [[mgrish]].
