Through intense national grant competition, funds are awarded to institutions of higher education to provide opportunities for academic development, assist students with basic college requirements, and to motivate students toward the successful completion of their postsecondary education. The IU Northwest Student Support Services (SSS) project also provides grant aid to current SSS participants who are receiving Federal Pell Grants (# 84.063). The goal of SSS is to increase the college retention and graduation rates of its participants. In order to meet this mission, the IU Northwest SSS Project has been awarded $303,702.00 from the United States Department of Education for the 2010-2015 Academic Program Year to facilitate the academic success of selected participants. SSS Grant Awards are for a five year cycle and total over 1.5 million dollars for the entire grant funding cycle.
