Message From the Director

Dr. Barbara Peat Director of SpeaI am Dr. Barbara Peat, Director of the School of Public and Environmental Affairs. I welcome you to explore the numerous opportunities SPEA offers in both undergraduate and graduate education in a variety of areas including public management, health services management, environmental science, criminal justice, public affairs, and nonprofit management.  SPEA is committed to providing students a professional education that advances their knowledge, skills, and abilities to become effective, ethical, and motivated employees.  Our emphasis on community engagement offers many diverse opportunities for students to participate in service learning activities under the direction of a knowledgeable and dedicated faculty member.  We are committed to providing all students an educational experience that prepares them to enter the workforce or continue their education at a higher level.  The Master of Public Affairs is accredited through the National Association of Schools of Public Affairs and Administration.  The excellent reputation of SPEA provides graduates with numerous opportunities to enter their chosen field regionally, nationally, and internationally.  Again, welcome to the IU Northwest School of Public and Environmental Affairs.
